About Ranchito Motel

Established in 1946 , the Ranchito Motel in Quincy , California, was founded by Wade Rouse and local ranchers with a resourceful spirit. The original 12-room buildings were uniquely constructed from recycled materials from a 100 year plus barn and water silo. For over 75 years, the motel has served as a peaceful retreat for travelers in the Sierra Mountains, situated on nearly three forested acres with a seasonal brook and tranquil, park-like setting.

In the 1970's, the property was expanded to accommodate a growing number of guests, adding rooms with a more conventional and modern construction style that blended with its historic character. The current owner, Tracy Wixted, along with her late husband, John, has undertaken a comprehensive renovation of the motel. This "top-to-bottom facelift," which includes new beds and other modern amenities, aims to enhance the guest experience while preserving the unique heritage and rustic charm that has defined the Ranchito Motel for decades.
